as just about every blog out there is posting a varient of electropunkdance noise, with this in mind, i decided to step aside from that particular game and get back to tunes.
so, when an email arrived advising of some new music from the forthcoming field music album, tones of town i jumped at the chance to hear more.
the bands label, memphis industries, who are once again, responsible for several of my favourte albums of the year, have given access to a couple of mp3s to show the direction that the band are going in, and from these tracks it’s obvious that they are moving on from the piano heavy producitons that dominated their excellent, but sometimes difficult debut. guitars are more forthright in the mix, the underlying music is more muscular. though i should state, fans of the bands style need fear not however, the music is still as harmonious as before, with the same changes in rhythm, the same layered vocals giving an almost 70s perfect-but-slightly-twisted pop styled feel to the music.
