christmas ! compilations !

there must be something in the air.
this week, i have had 2 crimbo compilations sent through.
not crappy tv advertised gubbins with cliff or noddy anywhere to be seen or heard.
no, these are far more appropiate additions to drop in your partners stockings. ahem.
first up, there is its not like christmas, which is to raise money and awareness for the shelter charity.
put together by pete ingo and released by the rather splendid izumi records label. this features all manner of excellent folks :

however, if you are more of a scrooge style grump, then there is a less charitable compilation put together by the kids label, with their seasonal offering:
the best kids christmas album in the ever ever ever!!!
the 11 tracker, features several of the labels current bands (the wombats, mighty six ninety, it hugs back etc) and a kids allstarz revisit of slades perennial monster, merry christmas everybody, in full on indie punk rock style.
your granny will hate it, but sod it. makes a nice change from the ubiquitous phil spector album (which i do love by the way).
the track by swoonsome electropop heros oppenheimer is very sweet and seasonal, will have you checking for the snowfalling outside, as for the rest, well its a mish mash of styles, cheesy, but brilliant, stock aitken and waterman styled electropop by west end girls, string drenched production for young playthings, and a fantastic shoutalong chorus for you to get into the spirit during the wombats submission, is this christmas.
very enjoyable, and not a bah humbug in sight.
