guyom – cacelorazo

well this is a tuff one.
firstly i am unable to actually give the albums proper title in the subject line as its full of strange non-standard characters that will cause trouble for the blog parser. so here’s the proper artist name (if the blog can display it!): [guÿôm]

the vinyl only album is a manic 48 minutes of distorted beats, jittery synths and weird ear tickling sonics.

not an easy album to get through in one sitting, but a fascinating insight into just what can be acheived by blokes with computers and too much time on their hands.

of course, the track titles are pointless to go into, (the radus panlet, copyfest, and the superbly named, digital rock’n’roll) as these 12 tracks are all instrumentals, in the broadest sense of the term, as having listened, i can safely say that i didn’t hear one ‘normal’ instrument throughout the cracked software glitches.

instead the album consists of heady noisey collisions of extreme machine originated clicks and clunks, with dips into idm, techno, cartoon sound effects, and something that the press release refers to as breakcore.

the final results sometimes works, but, as is the way, especially if you’re in search of a tune and melody, sometimes doesn’t.

it all depends on your wants and desires from your musical listening.
