minimal compact – nil nil (rub n tug remix)

this is rather special.

minimal compact were one of those post punk bands that sounded like all the bands today are trying to emulate, and to be honest i have only heard a few tracks (the fantastic cover verison of led zepplins immigrant song has to be heard !), so why the interest ?
well out of the band came the gruesome twosome who made a track called hallucination generation. this ended up being part of the short lived new beat phase. new beat matched tv vocal cutups to a darker slower take on acid house, and for a few months i loved it, i guess a lot of the stuff front 242 did at that time could have been lumped in with the whole scene, a little industrial, a little house and a fair bit of naughtiness in the lyrics (hello kim fowley). following a few media connected major label compilations, new beat dropped off the face of the earth.
all this time later, a lot of sounds remarkably dated, however, hallucination generation still makes for compulsive listening. wonderful, and well worth tracking down.
now fast forward nearly twenty years, and a certain dj morpheus from both bands is involved with the release of a compilation featuring a whole host of my fave bands from the late 80’s (more detail : here).
not only that, but he his very involved with the new world of electronica with a hint of his post punk roots. so i guess it was only natural that in 2004 he enlisted a chunk of new producers (tiefschwarz, optimo, maurice fulton etc) to let rip over the minimal compact back catalogue for the release of theres always now, which i seem to believe is available via the playlouder shop to download.
however, one track that got missed out, but has surfaced on the excellent tigersushi label (more detail : here) is rub n tugs reworked version of nil nil
want to hear it ?
of course you do, because its fantastic so, for a limited time only : here it is.
enjoy.
