rednetic : the dual series

back in the early days of the wordpress version of ireallylovemusic i wrote about rednetic quite a few times.

the label released electronica, primarily of the ambient techno sort that warp in the late 90s used to excel at, i.e. the whole intelligent dance music tag.
needless to say, a lot of what i heard hit the spot.
so, following on from my recent post re reorganising my digital archive and rediscovering hidden corners, i came across several of the lovingly packaged 3″cd-rs that rednetic kindly sent me. i added the music to the archive, and dived in and thought it was time i found out what they have been up to.
well, seems that the label developed into a net label, briefly set up an ambient sublabel (redose : now all available for free), and now has a thriving home on bandcamp.
as part of a recent relaunch of the label, they have just released the third part of the ‘name your price’ ‘dual‘ series, featuring names i recognise from back when i first tuned in such as joseph auer, zainetica, and cyan341, alongside new names daiki f, isolonika, and open memphis.
all of these artists sound rather anonymous, and i have rarely seen any mention of any of them elsewhere, so it could all be the product of a small crew using various aliases, but whatever the case is, i am glad to found the label is still a going concern.
from what i have heard on these eps it sounds like the rednetic crew are still deeply involved with the world of ambient techno with an excess of bleeps, wide screen atmospherics, deep basslines (no real evidence of any deviations into the dubstep bass excess), and melody.
which, as i said earlier, is always going to hit the spot for me.
i would highly recommend that you check out this free mixtape and hear some examples of this cracking label for yourself.
