well i never.
despite stepping back a couple of weeks ago, i still get emails from all sorts of hopeful noise makers, most of which go by unnoticed due to my inherent laziness/inertia.
also, i am very aware that i’m a genre hop scotching fickle sod who can go for years and not give two hoots about a particular genre, and then out of the blue, i’ll flip over, and become a certain bands number 1 fan.

so, imagine my surprise when i get an email from a guitar band who so far appear unsigned but have a soundcloud page with a whole set of tracks that i have listened to more than just about anything else in the last few days.
the reasons for the love become more clear when you go back and check the original email in which the band lists their influences :

amongst a lot of the usual suspects (joy division, really ?) are a few eye brow raisers.
i mean i thought i was the only person who remembered the peroxide’d up excellence of birdland !

as for the actual music that they have uploaded to soundcloud, well, it’s snarly girl fronted fuzztone heavy punk-pop, with elements of blondie and the shop assistants. which as i’m sure you’ll agree is one helluva double act.
one to watch ? quite possibly.
one to listen to ? definitely.
