diving at dawn : a lot like love/the spinney

well, this proves a point.

you see for the last few weeks i have been all about german machine noise, or random sonic chaos by miles davis, but after a period of time, that stuff can become wearisome and the head needs to be soothed with warm personal music.

so this morning i reached for the recent debut single, a lot like love,  by diving at dawn, aka one of the blokes from the ever wonderful the boy least like to, peter hobbs and lo if it’s not the most gorgeous sublime piece of pop music i have heard all year.

a simple repetitive piano motif, delicate melodies, brushed drums, and quiet vocal harmonies pronouncing heartfelt emotions to a loved one.

just a gorgeous song to start the day with.

flip the limited 7″ (subtle clue : rush and buy), and you get an exclusive piano based instrumental, the spinney.

do people still use the phrase “swoon some” in 2010.

if they don’t then this track should instigate a resurgence of the phrase, for that’s what this song is.
