the unexpected return of hip hop to the play list.

testing testing.

back in the day i used to update the blog via email, just testing to see if this method still works.

the week has been a strange one during which time the ireallylovemusic hq playlist has jumped from smashing pumpkins to john legend, via a lot of earl brutus.

i see that gorillaz have come out of hiding (albeit being forced due to the submarine having sprung a leak) and have revealed the somewhat bizarre tracklisting/guest line up.

now, the bands debut was so very long ago, and i no longer have the urge to report every new story that comes out of kong studios, nor do weird wired stuff under that strange pseudo stumbo that kept me busy for a few years when the band , but i can’t help but suspect i will be in the queue buying a copy on release day so i can soak up the genre hopping chaos once more.

in other news, and the reason for the subject line, it seems that tommy caruana, the producer of all manner of releases including the rather fine and slept on the roadman showcase album by wordsmith, has gone and done a danger mouse.

he has taken some wu-tang vocals, sample heavy loops (which often involves music by the beatles), and released the results to the wire.

from the spins earlier, i have to say, the finished product sounds more listenable than just about any current hip hop that permeates my life (i.e. not much), but that’s just me showing my love of a certain production style i guess.

oh, and it’s free.
