the second album that sinatra released on his own newly created label, reprise records.
so, given the fact that the title bore a close resemblance to one of his albums on capitol (his previous pay masters), it came as no surprise to anyone that capitol blocked the album and demanded it be renamed.
however, 50 years on, that’s all water under the bridge, and what remains is a fantastic blast of a high action swinging band with a fun filled, buoyant sinatra in full flow.
a couple of points of interest. nowhere on this reissue is there any mention of reprise, however, there is a subtle nod to the labels history, in that the label on the cd has a picture of sinatra in the same location as they used to do on the original vinyl reprise releases.
also, as with ring-a-ding ding! this is a straightforward remastered reissue, no extra tracks, no expanded sleevenotes.
however, i approve of such a way with classic albums.
this way you experience the album as intended, just in a lot cleaner, crisper manner.
and trust me, these billy may arrangements come at you in full force.
a truly glorious album.
