the heavy – how you like me now

second single to get people all excited about the forthcoming album the house that dirt built thats due out shortly (sept 22nd) from the heavy.

when i first heard about the heavy a few years ago i couldn’t help but get excited.

all the talk of rawness, swamp rhythms, dirty rock-n-roll and such built up my anticipation, yet for some reason, the bands debut didn’t really hit the spot.

however, clearly in the time since, the lads have knuckled down, focused their talents, and generally raised their game.

if the noisetttes can get some due love, then surely to the powers that be, can hear how brilliant this slab of dirty dancefloor hittin’ r-n-b (60s style) is, and yet still very accessible for that all important radio playlist factor.

james brown guitar licks, stax horns, up and at’em drums, and a vocal hook from hell to pull in the punters.

whether this dents the charts or not, this single is a surefire hit.

naturally, there are remixes.

joker twists the beats and gives the track a disjointed electro makeover, solo heads for the dancefloor with a solid 4-4 beat and a pumped up, hands-in-the-air vibe, while retaining some of the more interesting sonic aspects of the source, and then ghost drops the groove a level, heads for the midnight slot, and extracts the darker moods.

still, head for the original, and all will be well.
