who watches the watch men

hell.o.

back from a break during which time i :

read a book.

read a copy of esquire magazine.

watched my youngest swim.

watched my eldest run amok.

drank beer.

ate food.

slept.

twas all rather lovely

naturally, music related anecdotes from such a holiday are few and far between, but lets just say, one evening the sudden arrival of generations of love by jesus loves you (ok, boy george and some fancy dance producers of the day) on the hotel sound system, was of particular note.

during the downtime i of course contemplated the blog and what to do with it, given that my relationship with new music has become somewhat distanced and jaded (definitely a  case of ‘its me not you’).

the whole situation played heavily on my heart as i would love to be in a position to keep anyone out there who subs to this with the latest and greatest, but the fact of the matter is, i just dont have the energy, the time, nor the promo influx.

in fact, if i were being totally honest, i scarily realised while the sun scorched my office bleached skin that i enjoyed reading esquire a lot more than the monthly influx of music related articles (mojo/q/nme etc etc).

i guess it’s official.

i need a new very expensive watch.

then at the start of this week as i returned to the keyboard, all manner of blog related kaos ensued as indicated in the previous post.

for a few hours i felt plugged back in, and raring to go. i was spinning around the web in my shiny new chrome browser, checking out all these other colour intensive, flashy advert heavy blogs, streaming the latest electro’d up remixes by people i’d never heard of, and thinking "yes ! i could easily jump back in and go with the flow".

then today the headache hit.

after a few hours of exposure, that stuff hurts.

the solution : yup you guess it.

david axelrod, burt bacharach and a cracking 2 albums from the late 50s on cd by eartha kitt.

fear not though, as i’ve a sneaky suspicion that before the week is over, there will be a treat or 2 coming your way, and maybe even a review !

still, i really do like the look of that tag heuer.

onwards
