a couple of weeks ago i posted a few words about the rather wonderful new album by baikonour, your ear knows future. that has been released on the melodic label.
alongside that particular slice of ambient-krautrock influenced gorgeousness, is another new album coming out on melodic (it has to be said, the label is on a roll at the moment) by rec.tangle heavy maple.
rec.tangle (real name : adrien rodes, location : brighton, born : france), has been a part of the melodic family for many years, just in a different guise, topo gigio.
each of the labels compilations have featured his tracks, and so, i have been awaiting the full length with some keen anticipation.
like baikonour, rec.tangle incorporates a mix of analogue playfulness, and electronic jiggery pokery making his music very listenable, and interesting.
so, you may ask what would happen if these two teamed up and made music together ?
well, as it so happens, deep in the melodic archive (melo022 should you follow such things, and reviewed originally : here), such a pairing actually happened.
the bake your tape ep was given the full remix treatment and called the hot milk ep, with such high flying names as amon tobin stepping up to the challenge, and of course, a couple of label mates did their thing, including topo gigio, and gavouna.
naturally, given that both artists are now wanting people to hear their new music, i thought it a perfect time to dig into the archives, and let you hear the remix.
it’s rather wonderful.
