new ep from joe corrales aka yppah (ask for "yippah" and the record shop people should understand) to get people justifiably excited about his forthcoming second album, they know what ghost know.
while the mans debut, you are beautiful at times, was a lovely laidback affair of instrumental trippy beats, layered atmospherics, and generally was rather special, this time around joe has clearly ramped up the tension and intensity for the new material.
the applied sonic layers are more upfront, the beats a lot heavier and the mood even more perfect for those people who enjoy the current shoegaze revival thing.
the ep consists of 5 tracks, 3 of which are lifted from the album, so the extras are the main point of interest, but be sure that highlight happens to be the albums title track where embedded twisted vocals take the listener on a surreal psyche overload.
a "pollination remix" of the false starting lead track gumball machine ends up stretching the guitars to a point of kevin shields euphoria, while the drag gives fans of the noisier aspects of the go! teams catalogue a reason to be very interested.
absolutely brilliant.
