continuing this week with the plan to post one mp3 every day of stuff that you would not normally expect from ireallylovemusic comes this unusual but very cool song by michael zapruder.
no me neither.
apparently michael has worked with all manner of folks, and has crafted his new album, dragon chinese cocktail horoscope ["out today on sidecho records!!"] with scott solter who has helped out make spoon the pop beast that they are.
as it is, this example is a weirdly compelling track.
while the foundation is a melody heavy warm summers day slacker generation guitar strumathon, it’s the inclusion of spaced out atmospherics, flutes, more flutes, and a excellent psych breakdown that make the song all that more interesting.
mix the glory days of the lemondheads via the sonic experiments of your favourite 60s psych revivalist, and you begin to think that michael has actually hit paydirt.
after weeks of exposure to groove filled machine noise, i can say that this definitely made my head feel warm and fuzzy.
make your own mind up.
