strange name for a band. strange cover. 3 tracker from this 4 piece from london who describe themselves as "nick drake vs cloudead" .. and interesting premise, and not far off the mark. opening track 'burn your bridges' backward organs and synths and far away drums, plucked acoustic guitar collide with traditional folkesque boy/girl harmonies.
pleasant stuff if a little discomforting - especially when they distort the vocals and throw the beat out of the window. second spin though and the weirdness subsides and the song really begins to hit the right spot on a dark stormy morning .. then there is 'twilight' with its looped vocal sample, an art of noise moments in love for the lo-fi underground. haunting stuff.
the instrumentation is once again mellow with a distinct air of spooked out melancholy.
strange and yet rather nice.
