danko jones - we sweat blood

following on from the excellent born like a lion album comes this blast of noise, passion and anger.

in 2002 rock came back, queens of the stoneage, audioslave, in 2003 we got the darkness. hmmm. luckily though, this new found desire for humour, and camp rock has not changed this powerhouse trio one iota. this is heavy stuff. not as fused with the blues as previously this is hard rock, with vocals that mean everything. no paint stripping histrionics just gruff and distinctly manly.

with songs that declare urges and surges of various biological pastimes the guys in this band need to get laid - a lot. the songs have a real vibrancy, not one soppy love song among the 12 tracks. instead, there is the uptempo grooves of 'i love living in the city' with its crowd singalong chorus, and the downright evil nastiness of 'the cross' with lyrics i would expect from jimbo foetus. not a canadian rock trio.

all in all this is a wonderful continuation of the bands desire to live out the rock-n-roll dream and by the appearance of the band on the back cover it certainly looks as though the guys are living it full and proper.

excellent stuff. the anti-coldplay of rock music.
