saw this lot at reading years ago and didn't really pay much attention. wish i had. recently picked this up and at first didn't really rate it. then after a couple of listens it got its claws into me. the bass is dubby-deep and the singing sweet with chunky rock guitars. an interesting hybrid - kinda like happy mondays/black grape with a sweet soul singer. the first half of the lp is stunning the songs are very well structured with good atmosphere and flow. then the last half does lose the focus - (just doesn't need the cover of bankrobber imho) but get it for the first 5/6 tracks as these rate very highly.
