roots manuva - too cold
excellent track from the recent 'awfully deep' album. radio friendly loops and catchy riffs make this a surefire hit. so for the collectors there are few goodies on offer to grab that i should warn you about. to start with there is supposedly a seriously limited 7" yellow vinyl with exclusive dubbed up mix by roots himself (that big dada have advised will not be available anywhere else!). then there are the normal remixes involving sa-ra, wood harris and ninjatune cohort daedulus where the tempo is increased slightly and the mood lightened, the nightmares on wax version where a laidback ska'd dub basis is backing up roots vocals which are left intact and then for those of you who like remixes that go into completely new areas there is the rather funtastic go! team's version. which is totally off the wall in the same way that their album is. lots of party fun and the trademark thin production styles applied to roots boom voice. if you have heard any of the album then this remix is a continuation of their sound. and makes me smile a lot.
so all in all not a bad set of new versions.
