coldcut - everything under control

new product from coldcut - wonders never cease!

this release is first noise from the forthcoming album, 'sound mirrors', which is due early 2006, and features powered up riff blues beast, jon spencer, ranting and declaring that everything is under control, alongside mike ladd. the track is an old school fusion of hip hop beats and rock noise. but fear not, it passes by any accusations of a nu-metal associations and veers into the mutated paranoid funk of mark stewart and the mafia for anyone who recalls their distinctive brand of extreme noise terror will be happy to hear this wonderful exercise in passion, cutup beats and raw funk.

remixes appear to supplement the dancefloor demands with ninjatunes own dj kentaro proving exactly why his skills are currently wowing the crowds whenever he spins the wheels adding extreme levels of drum and bass rhythmic syncopation while maintaining the actual core structure of the song to glorious effect. also of note, there is the return of the underdog pseudo for output recordings head honcho, trevor jackson, heralding his return from the electroclash sidelines to his original fucked up dark-n-nasty trip hop remix guru with his 'return of the underdig' remix, whatever, this is a seriously fine return to the release schedule with a minimal groove and bass booms. but, being honest the best version available is actually the stripped down and raw demo (aka 'theory 0.1'), with its straight and narrow kraftwerk sample focussing the attention and maintaining the groove.

proving that sometimes keeping a track rough-n-ready is the best way forward.

bring it on.
