ireallylovemusic vs strictly kev - the 2007 session
i guess this is going to be yet another busy year in the life of
strictly kev/dj food, care to give us a run down on the proposed funk
we have to look forward to ?
ok, first off, i've contributed to otis fodder's 365 days project
which
appears every day here in 2007 with a free mp3 of weird and wonderful
music. (http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/365_days_project/)
my first submission is on jan 3rd with at least 3 more to come over the
year. (the 2nd was yesterday - the 22nd)
secondly, my website is in the finishing stages, we're ironing out bugs
and adding the last bits of content – will be at
www.djfood.org soon…
until then there's the requisite myspace page at

next up will be a new solid steel mix cd (with dk again) called ‘now,
listen again’ on april 2nd . it's the follow up to the first mix and
picks up where it left off and features a few exclusives and hard to
find gems amongst the usual mix mayhem and spoken word. we'll be
touring it from april around europe and then on to japan and oz/nz in
may with maybe the us after that. one of the exclusives we have is a
dub remix of roots manuva's ‘witness’ by steinski who will
be
accompanying us on some of the dates.
we've purposely kept knowledge of this mix confined to a few label
people and close friends because we didn't know how long it would take
with clearances and we didn't want to have expectation build up for
months on end as i find it can be damaging when something finally comes
out as it can never meet people's preconceived ideas. as it goes it
will only be a couple of months from people finding out about it until
they can buy it which suits me fine.
i will still be contributing mixes to the solid steel radio show
throughout the year with a short james brown tribute mix to come and
another kraftwerk kover kollection in the pipeline. i've just
finished
all the artwork for the new amon tobin record which will be out in
march and continue to work on the dj food album in my ‘off’ moments. so
that's half the year sorted then…
phewwwwwww - and lets not forget kev has twins to look after amongst all
this!
