A review of foehn 006. on foehn records.

available on double cd.

the first time i heard of foehn records was when david from melodic told me they wanted to use "feel tied down" by tex la homa on a compilation after hearing it on the wonderful "a room full of tuneful". i'm glad because foehn 006 is a beatiful record full of hidden treasures from around the world mixed with some names you probably already know. cd1 begins with the sound of birdsong, setting the mood for what some style mags might call folktronica, the birdsong belongs to a track called "untitled 1" by saucer it couldn't be any more pretty if it tried. my favourite tracks are "the weighth" by hood, sounds to me like shoegazing indie meets kid 606 style cut up action, great melodies and harsh noise, perfect. Ursula are next up and my current favourite new band, their track "infidelidades multiples" begins with two people discussing exactly how they are about to structure the song that you are listening too before the singing begins, it works perfectly creating a dream like state in for the listener, gradually changing throughout, always holding your your attention. sparrow orange on cd2 provide beatifly padded electronica, almost ambient in feel, it could actually send me to sleep but in the best possible way, i think i'd have nice dreams to this music and wake up happy instead of the usual hatred i feel toward my alarm clock. cex does his instrumental electronic thing instead of the rude boy rap persona i'd downloaded from his website. the fantastic "daylight" by chessie is included here as are great tracks form minotaur shock, to rococo rot and ursula. you can read more about loads of these bands, this compilation and other great records at  www.foehnrecords.com .

this is a compilation i suggest you seek out and listen to a lot.
