q and the bud_ - sweet dreams
2 track demo from this very interestingly monikered duo. the firt version of the track (bud_ mix)has a giorgio moroder-esqe thumping sequencer, with a wonderfully phased rock guitar set against a uptempo beatbox groove and a rap/singing style that recalls some of the earlier experiments by apollo440, throw in a few sirens and wake up call from a cockerel making this a superb 3 minute exercise in twisted d-n-b beats and rock posturing.
after listen 4 i suddenly had a flashback. on-u sound industrial house tracks with gary clail - especially with the early morning cockerel sample (one of clails classics had same such sample - housebuilding). so naturally it wins me over. and now gets regular spins during the washing up chores.
second version (jez q mix) is more stripped down and basic focussing more on the d-n-b beat and leaving the vocals a lot more untouched. not overly enamoured as i like my extra sonic touches and guitar licks .. but put through a megawatt soundsystem i'm sure this would move my feet.
which is the point surely ?
