new kingdom - heavy load, paradise dont come cheap

this is heavy,slow-n-low hip-hop. deep bass beats and real instruments. the overall feel is old school. looped samples with gruff rapping. dope infused beyond belief. yet somehow the flow is clear and vibrant. a lost hip-hop classic.

having enjoyed the first lp for many years i eventually see the second release, again produced by scott harding (along with the lumberjacks) the style is the same - real rock instrumentation with deep and dirty grooves, the vocals are gruff/distorted as ever but more focussed than the first lp. hiphop dont come stranger than this. totally brilliant, avoids every gansta cliche and creates its own corner in hiphop history, the fact that they are now working with regular fries (another dope infused rock/hiphop fusion band) speaks volumes .. should be interesting ! on a side note .. i dont think i have ever seen a hiphop crew acknowledge foetus as an inspiration - along with comic book artist jamie hewlett (whatever became of him ??), but somehow this makes perfect sense ..
