mc 900 ft jesus - hell with the lid off , welcome to my dream, one step ahead of the spider

white boy industrial rap from early 90's which disproves the theory that all white rap has to be a beastie boys/eminem variety.

mark griffins alter ego mc 900 ft jesus is a twisted character and over the course of these excellent jazzy hip-hop grooves lets us into his darkly lit streets with tales of various night time activities ..stunning, i have enjoyed 'hell with lid off' for many years this is actually billed along with dj zero and is a real time piece with a lot of sample/scatches/found voices and quite industrial in parts, after which mark griffin went more 'solo' the second lp delved into the night time jazz sounds and is superioir to just about everything i have heard with the jazz hip-hop tag .. not as much scratching this disc is far more live band sounding - but the tales are excellent .. bring on the third lp !

'one step ahead of the spider' was released on major label (american) and got amazing reviews and is basically a continuation of 'welcome' but far more of a live band - virtually no hip-hop overtones .. but still stunning stuff ..

and then nothing .. another one lost to the ether ..
