love is all - mixed up

out soon, 21st jan, is this revised version of the bands well received debut, nine times that same song.
the original scratchy indie guitar album tracks have been given the glossy techno/dance/electro makeover by all the right people for the nme/nu-ravers to go all gooey over.
some of the new versions are excellent, but the main problem for this particular listener is the presence of the original vocals which can often distract and annoy.
if i hear the certain vocal snippets looped one more time i’ll bloody loose my rag.
however, the revised backings are far more suitable to the current grooves required @ ireallylovemusic hq, so i guess i should declare my love.
metronomy give their remix a spaced out funk groove, optimo do one of their brilliant throbbing dancefloor stompers that just build and builds with its layers until total sensory meltdown takes over, the bees do their old school hammond organ and horns funk which is where the vocals really begin to grate, however, the track is too damn funky so my negativity is short lived.
elsewhere there’s cut up spiky electro by tapedecks,  a solid dancefloor filler (despite the tiresome ‘make out fall out make up’ vocal loop) by chicken lips that’s improves as the music morphs into a chaotic acid house freakout.
slowing down the vibe in the final section, the ever so cool scandinavian collective, studio, let things drift for over 10 minutes in a mass of laid back space age marimba’d up disco funk, after which, hot chip brings the party to a close, yet proving they are still very capable of combining their love for classic electro-pop while satiating the demands of the discerning groove addict.
