infinite livez - bush meat
uk hip hop stuff from ninjatunes' hip hop sub-label big dada with a real off the wall lyrical madness. i have not heard such manic stuff in years - if ever before. subsequently the first few listens are very disorientating as the words are just too distracting, therefore the album can easily be discarded and forgotten about.
but, give the album some space and revel in the weirdness and, slowly but surely, you will find yourself being immersed into the strangeness which is sound tracked by a set of minimal beats and clipped and looped samples. for me the turning point was feeling the sloppiness in the beats and effects in album highlight (and i believe single) the adventures of the lactating man which tells the story, in a heavy london accent, of a lactating man, of course, to a strange electro drum beat. if you can absorb this type of stuff then the rest of the album will indeed be a blast of fun.
with many tracks featuring hand puppet barry convex for that full on celebrity guest appearance type of irony, with other guests including ghandi warhol - ho ho indeedy. for example how many albums feature song which straps a slow-n-low hip hop beat with opera vocal line where the lyrics sung in opera style are "kiss my a*se" and a spoken interlude where a very posh voice is discussing doo-doos as art, claati bros feat. sir ster - hilarious stuff, which is itself followed by a track called white wee wee, hmm. there are many that will find this album hard to take, but in the right mood i found myself chuckling away.
but, on days when i wanted to hear something a little more based on planet earth then this is not going to work. file under : "totally mad - but - interesting".
