on wednesday 24th june and thursday 25th june 2008 madness will unveil the liberty of norton folgate: their 8th studio album and first original record in 10 years.

in the year that marks 30 years of madness it is the perfect moment to celebrate and reappraise a band that remain as relevant today as they did 30 years ago and who continue to inspire and evolve. just 2 hours in the presence of madness and all life’s aches and pains will desert you! let the mathematical and sensitive arrangements create sounds, frequency and musical notes to transform your very well being. it will be an evening of two halves that will take you on a journey through a stunning rendition of their brand new album whilst ensuring the popular madness classics get their rightful airing.
the liberty of norton folgate will be showcased for the very first time at london’s befitting hackney empire where the 7 friends will come together for a theatrical show unlike anything that has gone before. drawing on the colourful and cultural eponymous lead track the show will ‘enthral, enrapture and even exhilarate’ – and undeniably entertain.
for one night only, come experience: a collection of musical pieces written and performed by madness who will tell a tale of a city born in blood, mud and immigrant, which grew through adventure, betrayal and treason – fought to breathe the dirt, muck and scum of survival – raged through the pains of passion – threw thee before greed and bankruptcy of emotion and thought, struggled for freedom, rights and the welfare of all, danced, skanked and bogled for the cause of man and woman’s need to be – and express happiness – we give you the working man’s mozart – a bright shining virus of joy therapy for the masses and a belter of a good night.
the brand new album draws on the inherent pop sensibility of madness but weaves it through a sinuous journey of cultural references and influences to deliver a truly modern madness.
limited tickets are available, so, to be part of this historic moment, be sure to visit your vendor of choice and join us for a new chapter of mayhem, pandemonium and madness!
to see and hear the 7-minute track ‘the liberty of norton folgate’ go to the online home of madness and view: www.myspace.com/madnessofficial
