the excellent rekids<\/u> label are hitting it hard in 2008, capitalising on their amazing first year in 2007 with this new 12" featuring the full 9 minute housed up robots<\/font> track lifted from luke solomons<\/strong> recent full length release, the difference engine<\/u>, along with a couple of remixes of different tracks from prins thomas<\/strong>  (more flutes !) and anjello<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

for reasons only known to me, i have yet to pick up the album, but given that this track has knocked me out today, it wont be too long.<\/p>\n

actually, that’s a lie. i do know why i never got around to getting the album, so let me share a little piece of insider detail.<\/p>\n

basically, having picked up the labels superb 2 cd compilation, one<\/u>, i was rather keen to get lukes album upon its release, however, when it came out, i soon realised that the label had decided to release it in one of those godawful digi-packs.<\/p>\n

now, i understand that a lot of people like them, but i don’t.  i actually concur totally with the stylus crew<\/a> in regards to this.<\/p>\n

so much so, that i will actually wait until they all sell out, and the labels release a normal jewel box version (eg. the last hot chip<\/strong> album).<\/p>\n

however, due to my keenness i decided to check in with rekids to find out if lukes album was ever going to be released in a standard jewel case. <\/p>\n

amazingly james masters of the label came back and explained the reasoning behind the decision !<\/p>\n

so over to james : <\/p>\n

"for artist albums the way forward is digipaks for us. it just makes sense all round.<\/font><\/p>\n

you would not believe the amount of ‘damaged’ and returned jewel cases from shops.<\/font><\/p>\n

fine if you want to sell 10s of thousands – nightmare for a small label. <\/font><\/p>\n

shrinkwrapped digi gets round all this pain.<\/font><\/p>\n

rekids two is likely to be in the ‘deluxe’ jewel case – but artist albums will be digi…<\/font><\/p>\n

so now i feel guilty, and given that the new 12" is just wonderful, i have decided to do the honourable thing.<\/p>\n

oh, and to make things even better on this sunny thursday, label bosses, james masters (yes him again), and matt ‘i’m known as radio slave you know<\/font>‘ edwards have stepped up to the plate, and given top site, resident advisor<\/u>, a crackin’ interview.<\/p>\n

so there you have it, buy the 12", listen to the album online via the website, realise its ace, and buy the bugger. <\/p>\n

then go and read the interview.<\/p>\n
