experiments in violent light"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>       <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">how on earth have i missed out on this band until  now.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">my interest was sparked by the excellent  <STRONG>flykiller <\/STRONG>remix that appeared on <STRONG>siouxsie&#8217;s<\/STRONG>  new single, especially as subtly in the mix are some <STRONG>free  association<\/STRONG> samples. <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">so when i saw a  full album with no detail anywhere on the cover, other than a <STRONG>david  holmes<\/STRONG> remix of the title track, i was intrigued to hear  more.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">subsequently, a little digging has revealed that  <STRONG>flykkiller<\/STRONG> <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">comprises of  <EM>stephen hilton<\/EM> (ex <STRONG>free association<\/STRONG>\/<EM>david  holmes<\/EM> so the jigsaw pieces fall into place easily), and a polish femme  fatale, <EM>pati yang,<\/EM> and, without gushing too much, this stuff is exactly  what <EM>ireallylovemusic<\/EM> has been looking for. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">taking the current love of dark post punk attitude  filled bass lines, melded with some of the nastiest electro this side of <EM>ed  banger<\/EM>, and then smoothing off the edges with some gorgeous nerve calming  vocals, the results are unnerving, tantalising and somewhat exciting given that  the whole package is so complete and rather cool. <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">cinematic moods collide with intense drum-n-bass beats, dark gothic  shadows descend over the airspace on a frequent basis, while the state of the  art production urges the listener to be concerned for their  woofers.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">the music is often barbed, with little desire to be  friendly or even that inviting, but such density makes for a far more compelling  listen. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">of course there are some that will dismiss some of  the music as a mutant offspring of the much maligned trip hop genre, especially  evident during the first half of album closer, <EM>sleepless night<\/EM>, but for  the majority of the album, the beats and production avoid the usual pitfalls of  a coffee table loop and a vocal overdub in&nbsp;such a&nbsp;fresh manner that  those associations are easily dispelled. <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">in fact,  the closest connection would be the electro experiments of <STRONG>dot  allision<\/STRONG> for her <EM>we are science <\/EM>album, or the recent return of  <STRONG>roc, <\/STRONG>and that round @ <EM>ireallylovemusic<\/EM> hq, is  a&nbsp;great disfunctional family to be a part of.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>more detail<\/EM> : <A href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/flykkiller\">here<\/A><\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV><\/DIV><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>how on earth have i missed out on this band until now. my interest was sparked by the excellent flykiller remix that appeared on siouxsie&#8217;s new single, especially as subtly in the mix are some free association samples. so when i saw a full album with no detail anywhere on the cover, other than a [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-750","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-album-reviews"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/750","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=750"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/750\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=750"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=750"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=750"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
