you know i rarely write up a one track cd-r based song these days, i just get too many, and don’t really have the time to digest all of them, not to mention most are not that worthy of love and attention.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
however, for some reason i dropped this in the machine, waited for my fussy cd player to recognise the cd (its more fickle that the listener in this house to be honest), and then instantly fell in love with the simple but wonderful early 90s styled indie pop that was coming out of the speakers.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
if the name the darling buds <\/STRONG>means anything to you, then i urge you to track this down, as this supergroup (details in a minute) have evoked memories of said bands later period, erotica, <\/EM>where whispered female layered vocals match up perfectly with the effect driven guitars to make for a wonderfully old school indie 3 minutes, with, for once, no space for anything as currently fashionable as neon lit casio synths or dayglo smileys, and the results are all the better for that as well.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
as mentioned, the line up for this band has quite a few folks from other well known bands, and is as follows : <\/FONT><\/DIV>
gretta cohn<\/EM> of bright eyes<\/STRONG>, cursive<\/STRONG> and saddle creek records<\/EM>, <\/FONT><\/DIV>
kelly pratt<\/EM> of arcade fire<\/STRONG>‘s live band together with <\/FONT><\/DIV>
ryan smith<\/EM> of the silent league<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/DIV>
one must believe that all rock star egos were surely be left outside the studio, as the results are calming, seductive, and rather special. <\/FONT>so, with that in mind i can only ask – where the hell is the album ?<\/FONT><\/DIV>
