{"id":577,"date":"2007-06-01T09:40:05","date_gmt":"2007-06-01T08:40:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/?p=577"},"modified":"2007-06-01T09:40:05","modified_gmt":"2007-06-01T08:40:05","slug":"various-the-qemists-hexstatic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/?p=577","title":{"rendered":"various &#8211; the qemists, hexstatic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>       <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">recently i have lost contact with the stuff one of  my fave labels, <EM>ninja tune<\/EM>, have been releasing.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">this doesn&#8217;t mean the music isn&#8217;t worthy, but it&#8217;s  just not for me. <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">for a start, there is a lot of  love for the new <STRONG>wiley <\/STRONG>single\/album. sorry, but i just don&#8217;t  get grime. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">i have tried, and failed. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">same with the last <STRONG>infinite livez,  <\/STRONG><EM>art brut fe de yoot,<\/EM>&nbsp;album, &nbsp;that was just a little  too out there for my middle of the road ears. <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">then again conversely, the latest <STRONG>cinematic orchestra<\/STRONG>  release, <EM>ma fleur, <\/EM>was too downtempo, too stripped back to become a  solid playlister. <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">gorgeous ? oh yes. <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">special ? oh yes. <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">but i found  it to be&nbsp;an album that i will return to rarely,&nbsp;as it requires a  certain mood to totally get it.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">thankfully however, things have come back around  with the 2 singles in the current pile.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">firstly, <STRONG>the qemists <\/STRONG>get things  off to a flying start, with the long awaited  release,&nbsp;<EM>stompbox.<\/EM>&nbsp;a proper release following a few remixes  here and there, and the limited 12&#8243; of <EM>iron shirt.<\/EM>&nbsp;this time, the  lads just let rip with this monster of drum and bass beats, and in-yer-face  guitars.&nbsp;the results are big, loud and&nbsp;certainly very proud,  <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">as is the flip track, <EM>when ur lonely  <\/EM>that straps a heartfelt vocal loop to the sonic frenzy, meaning that both  tracks are going to devastate dance floors whenever these are  dropped.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">next up, is the return of the audio-visual  pranksters, <STRONG>hexstatic.<\/STRONG> or this new set of tracks,in extended  forms from their album versions, they have dug into their&nbsp; electro roots  and totally fallen into the sparkly electropop groove making it lazy, but  obvious that they have listened to <STRONG>goldfrapp<\/STRONG> over the last few  years. featuring <EM>sabirajade <\/EM>on the excellent lead track, <EM>roll over,  <\/EM>they line up the best schaffel groove, thin beats, analogue synth riffs and  a ear pleasing melody. <EM>red laser beam <\/EM>takes away the human element, and  instead had a drop kick beat surrounded by video game sound effects, and a  vocoder loop,&nbsp;before a compressed and fucked up guitar sample riff kicks  in. while it may not be anything too original, (after all the <STRONG>chemical  brothers<\/STRONG> have this electro&#8217;d up big beat noise wrapped up now dont  they?) this is great stuff. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">the ep package is then completed with 2 extended  album tracks, <EM>tokyo traffic, <\/EM>and the wonderfully stuffed to the max  with bleeps,&nbsp;<EM>bust, <\/EM>that prove the album is definitely going to be  one to check out.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>more detail<\/EM> : <A href=\"http:\/\/www.ninjatune.net\">here<\/A><\/FONT><\/DIV><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>recently i have lost contact with the stuff one of my fave labels, ninja tune, have been releasing. this doesn&#8217;t mean the music isn&#8217;t worthy, but it&#8217;s just not for me. for a start, there is a lot of love for the new wiley single\/album. sorry, but i just don&#8217;t get grime. i have tried, [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-577","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-singles-reviews"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/577","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=577"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/577\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=577"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=577"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=577"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
