{"id":520,"date":"2007-04-19T09:30:06","date_gmt":"2007-04-19T08:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/?p=520"},"modified":"2007-04-19T11:47:07","modified_gmt":"2007-04-19T10:47:07","slug":"midlake-stateless-digitilasm-unklejam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/?p=520","title":{"rendered":"midlake stateless digitalism unklejam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>       <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">back online and now faced with a monstrous pile of  silver discs, <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">so here&#8217;s a quick run down of some  of the stuff.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><STRONG>midlake &#8211;  <\/STRONG><EM>roscoe<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">gorgeous opening album track of supreme 70s middle  of the road rock that permeates your soul as well as generating media press  meltdown. so several months later, the album highlight gets lifted off the  album, handed over to various names to remix and generally given a bloody great  makeover. names include : <EM>jody den broeder<\/EM>, <EM>justin robertson<\/EM>,  <EM>cassettes wont listen<\/EM>, and erol alken and ambient guru richard norris  in their excellent alterego<EM> beyond the wizards sleeve. <\/EM>so what ever  your fancy there is a remix for you ! <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">happy house, leftfield ambience, or how about the  drop dead brilliance of the original. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">you just cant go wrong with this.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>more detail<\/EM> : <A href=\"http:\/\/www.midlake.net\">here<\/A><\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><STRONG>stateless &#8211;  <\/STRONG><EM>exit<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">a couple of years ago, <STRONG>stateless  <\/STRONG>released a rather fine ep on <EM>regal records<\/EM>. the songs showed a  well defined craft at experimental guitar music that never wandered off too far  up its own pretensions. of course there were the obvious audio connections with  <STRONG>radiohead<\/STRONG> and <STRONG>dj shadow<\/STRONG>, so when the lead  singer of the band dropped in on dj shadows sessions for his last album all  became too clear. thankfully someone has come along and given the band another  shot at the pop cherry, however, rather than get us all excited with new  material, its one of the songs off that original ep given a re-release.  <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">still,&nbsp;maybe this means an album is on its way  ?
