{"id":433,"date":"2007-02-08T19:06:51","date_gmt":"2007-02-08T18:06:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/?p=433"},"modified":"2007-02-08T19:09:41","modified_gmt":"2007-02-08T18:09:41","slug":"derailleur-wave-theory-of-light-ep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/?p=433","title":{"rendered":"derailleur &#8211; wave theory of light ep"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>       <DIV><EM><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">tracklisting : repeat offender, knights bishop,  intra, less acid<\/FONT><\/EM><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">starting off 2007 with a cracking ep, sheffields  <STRONG>dust science <\/STRONG>label come out of their temporary state of  hibernation with intensions of a full action packed year, and if this ep is a  guage of their forthcoming quality, all i can say is <EM>bring it  on.<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">the press release brands these tracks as  <EM>tech-house <\/EM>which i can&#8217;t really&nbsp;vouch for&nbsp;on as all these  micro genres seems to have invisible boundaries with negligible differences in  the various flavours of the month. you see before i read the press release i  just said &#8216;<EM>damn thats some fine old school detroit styled ambient  techno&#8217;.<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">so there you have it, <EM>lee graves <\/EM>(as his  mum knows him) has crafted four rather wonderful tracks that evoke the same  future world neon lit beauty that you used to get from the likes of <STRONG>b12  <\/STRONG>and of course label mates <STRONG>the black dog,<\/STRONG> and in my  book that&#8217;s a bloody good thing.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">opener <EM>repeat offender <\/EM>has a more urgent  uptempo attitude in its beat, and with the use of distorted found vocals comes  over as a bastardised collaboration between <STRONG>cabaret voltaire  <\/STRONG>(in their chicago house days), and the chart topping <STRONG>inner  city,&nbsp;<\/STRONG>the&nbsp;association is&nbsp;all&nbsp;about the choice of  the sounds that are utilised,&nbsp;when you hear this track you&#8217;ll see what i  mean. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">chess fans will baffle as to the connection between  the hard clinical beats of <EM>knights bishop <\/EM>and their love of the game,  but, as is often the case in techno, track titles bear no relation to the sonics  unless chess players have a passion for wired technology based music while  plotting their next defence\/attack strategies. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">the second half of the ep delves deeper in the  ambience, <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>intra<\/EM>&nbsp;with its fat warm  echoed production and a subtle dub vibe, and <EM>less acid <\/EM>stripping away  the layers to a bare minimal detail but still maintaining the desire for melodic  beauty.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">all in all this is excellent machine  music&nbsp;aimed for the heads and the feet. <\/FONT><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">in&nbsp;other words,&nbsp;top quality ambient techno, sorry  <EM>tech-house.<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><EM>more detail<\/EM> : <A href=\"http:\/\/www.dustscience.com\">here<\/A><\/FONT><\/DIV><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>tracklisting : repeat offender, knights bishop, intra, less acid starting off 2007 with a cracking ep, sheffields dust science label come out of their temporary state of hibernation with intensions of a full action packed year, and if this ep is a guage of their forthcoming quality, all i can say is bring it on.
