{"id":431,"date":"2007-02-06T22:46:57","date_gmt":"2007-02-06T21:46:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/?p=431"},"modified":"2007-02-06T22:47:27","modified_gmt":"2007-02-06T21:47:27","slug":"videos-harrisions-working-for-a-nuclear-free-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/?p=431","title":{"rendered":"harrisions, working for a nuclear free city"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=Content-Type content=\"text\/html; charset=iso-8859-1\"> <META content=\"MSHTML 6.00.5730.11\" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE><\/STYLE> <\/HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>harrisons<\/STRONG> &#8211; <EM>mondays  arms<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>a punchy urgent guitar pop anthem with chantalong  chorus that is going to kill the evening playlists on your national radio  stations, as well as the requisite <EM>nme<\/EM> sanctioned dancefloors. its a  cracking track, and with a remix by the mysterious <EM>american pop band  <\/EM>which isolates the pumped up bass line and adds some basic old school one  fingered synth parts and aged linn pad echos to the proceedings. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>excellent stuff.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>for a fun few minutes you can check the video : <A  href=\"http:\/\/www.melodic.co.uk\/videos\/Harrisons%20-%20Mondays%20Arms%20(large).WMV\">here<\/A><\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><EM>more detail<\/EM> : <A  href=\"http:\/\/www.melodic.co.uk\">here<\/A><\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2><STRONG>working for a nuclear city<\/STRONG> &#8211;  <EM>rocket ep<\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>ok, it seems that there are others around the web  are picking up on the glorious album that <STRONG>wfanfc<\/STRONG> released last  year, with love flowing from pitchfork and allmusic it shouldn&#8217;t be too long  before this lot break through their current glas ceiling and get some serious  attention. whether this ep is the record to do that i cant really say as its a  delicate affair that lacks any real radio hooks and gameplay choruses. instead  the lead track, <EM>rocket,<\/EM>&nbsp;is a smouldering 5 minutes of distant  piano (of which there is a backstory in which the piano&nbsp;generated the need  to make this ep if memory serves me right!) grumbling bass line and a vocal  motif repeated over and over in true krautrock via baggy style. <EM>heaven  kissing hill <\/EM>opens with a spoken interlude before its drifts into a  straight up rip of the better part of <STRONG>the beta band <\/STRONG>seriously  this track could easily be placed mid <EM>3eps<\/EM> period and no-one would bat  an eyelid. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>its that good.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>when all hell breaks loose at 2 and half minutes  its like the antithesis of those around a campfire singalongs as someone is  screaming (in a distant manner &#8211; not upfront a la nu-metal angst it should be  noted) their vocals out to a cacophony of guitar noise creating a song of two  very different moods. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>can i say its brilliant again please. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>of course i can.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>next up, <EM>waiting game <\/EM>with its moody  instrumental djshadowblockhead\/cinematic orchestra vibe proves that the lads are  at ease when it comes to playing with the expectations thrust upon them, as lets  not forget, this is a throwaway track on an ep. ha. if only. bbc soundtrack  people, if you read this then i suggest you track down this piece of music,  it&#8217;ll answer many of your needs over the next few months when making moody late  night drama sequences.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>so after 3 superb tracks just how do the band  finish off the non-album extra ?
