i miss clor<\/STRONG>. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
a lot. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
their only album, clor,<\/EM> knocked me sideways, i hammered it for months after its release. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
something about the disjointed song structures, the vocals, the combination of synths and guitars just ticked every box for me when it came out. i even ended up interviewing the band for clash magazine<\/EM>. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
oh the fame and non-fortune.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
so, the fact i missed them live when they appeared at glastonbury last year, will go with me to the grave, especially as i heard from people later that they were on fire.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
when the band called it quits i felt let down, depressed and disappointed. <\/FONT>this was one band i really felt could become a very special part of my life, and my emotional investment had not paid off yet again.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
however, in the weeks prior to the announcement i received a cd ep by swedish pop band envelopes <\/STRONG>which included a remix by clor, who were on record expressing their love for the original. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
i didn’t really get into the original, it was too twee for me at the time and rather messy in the arrangement, but there was a very catchy tune in the mess.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
thankfully, such reservations were disgarded with the clor remix, who stripped away the shambolic aspects, underpinned the track with their trademarked sonics, and then let it go acid ravey-nutso after a few minutes, making the outcome rather special.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
i still hope that there is a spinoff from clor in the same way simian<\/STRONG> morphed into remix outfit simian mobile disco<\/STRONG>, as i strongly believe that there was talent within the clor unit to make some fantastic music. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
i guess we just have to wait. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
in the meantime, dig out the clor album loud once more, scour the racks for their cd singles (hunt down the joakim<\/STRONG> remix of magic touch<\/EM> !), and revel in the glory that is this wonderful remix.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
