i may not have yet reviewed them, but the forthcoming on-u sound<\/STRONG> related albums are all fantastic. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
so to prepare you for all this bass juddering excellence, here’s an new interview thats gone online by those folks @ fact magazine.<\/STRONG><\/FONT><\/DIV>

also, just a word of advise, you seriously need to get extra dub disc of adrians second album for realworld records, becoming a cliche, <\/EM>it’s a limited edition extra – but for those of you who like their on-u<\/STRONG> all messy and deep, the dub version is far better than the album proper.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
according to amazon, the discs are all out next week. <\/FONT><\/DIV>

on-u soundcrash<\/EM> – various artists<\/STRONG> (slash and mix by adrian sherwood)<\/FONT><\/DIV>

the slash and mix<\/EM> cds are like cut-n-paste mixtapes blending hits and misses from the relative on-u<\/STRONG> soundsystem<\/STRONG> related back catalogues. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
obviously, the tackhead<\/STRONG> disc focuses on the harder edged industrial funk side of things with exclusive edits from tackhead<\/STRONG>, fats comet<\/STRONG>, and even solo material by the bands drummer, keith leblanc, <\/EM>whereas, the on-u soundcrash<\/EM> takes a dip into the dubby world with all manner of old classics and new twists by prince far i<\/STRONG>, lee scratch perry<\/STRONG>, gary clail<\/STRONG>, mark stewart<\/STRONG>, and the awesome african headcharge<\/STRONG>. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
if you dont have any on-u<\/STRONG> soundsystem<\/STRONG> in your life then both of these discs are essential starter points, and even if you do have, then adrian provides a great mashup mix for when you can’t quite decide which record to dig out of the archive that makes you go, ‘oh, i know this one’, <\/EM>or ‘oh, i really need to get more like this’. <\/EM><\/FONT><\/DIV>
which is surely the whole point if the originals are once again made available to any newcomers (cos they aint having my copies)<\/FONT><\/DIV>
however, for us who have followed the producers output for too many a year, there was one main issue that came through loud and clear.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
i really<\/EM> miss andy fairleys vocals. his gruff spoken cutup newsreader styled voiceovers were a mainstay feature within the sonics for years, and hearing his voice within new surroundings was somewhat weird and unsettling, but still very special.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
