{"id":305,"date":"2006-10-03T10:50:08","date_gmt":"2006-10-03T09:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/?p=305"},"modified":"2006-10-03T10:50:08","modified_gmt":"2006-10-03T09:50:08","slug":"shed-7-she-left-me-on-friday-on-u-sound-mix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ireallylovemusic.co.uk\/blog\/?p=305","title":{"rendered":"shed 7 &#8211; she left me on friday (on-u sound mix)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>       <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">folks.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\"><\/FONT>&nbsp;<\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">now that seems to be a britpop revival going on in  various places (check the new <STRONG>akira the don<\/STRONG> mix for more  reasons to get concerned !), and at <EM>ireallylovemusic<\/EM> hq there has been  a complete overhaul of the on-u sound system archives, i came across this oddity  hidden away. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">if memory serves me right, the <EM>&#8216;the  heroes&#8217;<\/EM> single that this mix was on, happened to be the bands last for  polydor, but to be fair the band had a fair old run. <\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">a lot more than many would have ever  believed.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">while this mix isn&#8217;t exactly <STRONG>on-u sound  system<\/STRONG> gold, it does have all the trademarked dubbed up to excess funk  in the indie-disco groove, and with the current love for the new glut of indie  bands rediscovering the glitter ball then there really is no excuse as to why  this hasn&#8217;t been given a right hammering at all the decent places, oh, except  maybe for the fact that <STRONG>shed 7<\/STRONG> was truly uncool and hated by  many, despite being a cracking live act.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">well sod that snobbery, this is a fine piece of  guitars and dubbed up funk.<\/FONT><\/DIV> <DIV><FONT face=\"Arial\" size=\"2\">some may say it&#8217;s a perfect example of 2 entities  that are completely unrelated coming together for the love of appeasing a record  label idea. perhaps. or, was rick witter secretly wanting to move into a more  dance orientated direction and drag his cohorts into&nbsp;through  a&nbsp;<STRONG>primal scream<\/STRONG> styled makeover?
