after a while of not feeling too connected to the world of hip hop i get a chance to check out the forthcoming dj yoda<\/STRONG> album, the amazing adventures of dj yoda<\/EM> . hurray. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
proper review to appear in the usual place, but let’s just say, yodas blast of movie\/advert samples, looped silliness, video game sound effects, and suchlike (with the odd high profile guest popping up from time to time), are a wonderful antidote<\/A> (ha) to all things hip hop normally stands for.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
though, sampling 80’s slap bass funkers level 42<\/STRONG> is a little too close to the cringesome bone. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
to make matters worse, the offending track, ‘wheels’<\/EM>, is to be lifted as a single !<\/FONT><\/DIV>
of course, life is never that simple, despite featuring the thumb, yoda manages to craft a track of radio friendly, smile inducing brilliance out of the cheese filled samples.<\/FONT><\/DIV>

goose<\/STRONG>, whose album, bring it on, <\/EM>is a wonderful marriage of fat analogue synths and rock-n-roll. a well worn cliche maybe, but i’ll be damned if this album aint going to please a lot of people. <\/FONT><\/DIV>
11 tracks in 36 minutes means the album doesn’t outstay its welcome, always a bonus.<\/FONT><\/DIV>

oh, and in case you didn’t know, akira the don<\/STRONG> has a new limited single out, oh! what a glorious thing<\/EM> (1000 copies, 7″ vinyl). a-side is a smooth album track of loved up beauty, and the flip, boom!,<\/EM> is a britpop sampling monster that’s going to get hammered in all the right places.<\/FONT><\/DIV>
