remember me recently admitting that i have a revised love for beats/samples and stuff that would have been tagged with the phrase trip-hop, well, it seems that things are happening out there, and maybe i am not alone.

blockhead has quietly released 2 albums on ninja tune which could be lumped into this genre in that he crafts tracks of serene beauty underscored by hip hop beats.

the first of which, music by cavelight, was very calming and clearly connected to mother earth, the second, downtown science, seemed to indicate that tony simon (for that is his actual name) had an urge to introduce some urban grit to his grooves, while not completely loosing sight of his love of all things beyond the city gates.

next week sees the release of his excellent third album, the music scene, that from both the artwork (there seems to be a thread in the three albums artwork, first = nature, second = urban, third = clash of nature and urban) , and the music, seems to be a very enjoyable combination of both sides to the mans psyche.

so, to tease and please, dj food associate, dk, has put together an old fashioned 30 minute megamix.

do i need to tell you this is totally worthy of your download time today ?

mp3 : here
