meditronica is the 10 track debut release on new rarenoise records label.

predominantly comprising of two musicians, ashtech and polcari, who between them have a cv that subtly drops in names such as :

bill laswell, adrian sherwood, meat beat manifesto, and zion train.

such a list may therefore give you some indication as to exactly what the end result is.

big fat, deep ambient electronically enhanced dub soundscapes that rattle and hum in all the right places.

most of the time, the music is instrumental, often referencing the dubbier end of bill laswells axiom releases, with delicate mediterranean twists and turns adding a warm welcoming worldwise vibe to the sometimes dark proceedings.

as is often the way with ambient dub, nothing really stands out throughout the 55 minutes, the production and sound is deep with extra layered but spacious atmospherics providing a sense of calm.

however, the cold clinical sci-fi treated vocal overdubs during the third planet, and the warm summer vibes of black haik (fender rhodes melodies and bleeps is always a good combination) are of particular note.

all of which makes meditronica an absolute joy to have shaking the ireallylovemusic foundations while i get on with day to day life stuff.

highly recommended.
