arthur and martha – autovia ep

this 4 track ep from new electronic pop duo, arthur and martha is the first release by new record label, happy robots.
i can genuinely say that this debut ep has been top of my playlist ever since it arrived last week.
the duo don’t even try and hide the obvious love thats on display throughout the four tracks.
quite simply, these folks love kraftwerk.
a lot.
an awful lot.
information regarding the people behind these timewarped productions is all online at the official site below, so i’m not going to regurgitate the details here, however i can tell you that the sweet interaction of the delicately layered analogue synths, and marthas vocal harmonies are rather lovely.
making this ep a wonderful alternative to the current demand for the glut of distressed ugly synthetic noise that dominates the electro scene.
the lead track is a sublime slice of throbbing sequencer beauty, whereas japanese kiss is a more laid back homage home made lo-fi 80s electro pop.
squarewave to heaven ups the tempo slightly with wonderful understated drum machine loops and rich analogue overdubs, before the vocoders are used to fill out the melancholy melody, with results that would fill the more demanding 80s electro dancefloor with lots of happy people.
all in all this is an absolutely brilliant debut, can’t wait to hear more.
but then again, i do like kraftwerk.
